Obituary

HEGAMYER, Clarene Carla, of Glen Allen, Va., passed to her rest in Christ on Sunday, September 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Clara Anderson of Minnesota. She is survived by her adoring husband, David E. Hegamyer; her beloved daughter, Faith Anne Hegamyer; her beloved sisters, Carleen Gustrowsky of Fall River, Wis. and Lynette Anderson of Hendersonville, N.C.; her niece and nephew, and faithful in-laws and numerous friends. Clarene was born on February 7, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Minn. She was educated at Andrews University in Michigan and graduated with two degrees, History and Elementary Education. For years she taught all of the elementary school grades in the Seventh-day Adventist Education System, including several years at the Richmond Junior Academy in Richmond, Va. She was an active member of the Patterson Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1966, and a member within the denomination since childhood. In her later years, she was a receptionist for the Elizabeth Adam Crump Nursing Home, in Glen Allen, Va. Clarene was an expert in Civil War History, loved reading and caring for children, participating in church activities, and celebrating the holidays with family and friends. She will be sorely be missed by all who knew her. She is resting at the Bliley's Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, Va., where services are scheduled for Thursday, September 29, beginning with visitation at 11 a.m., main service at noon, and interment at Forest Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial luncheon, for all guests, follows the graveside service and will be held in the social hall of the Forest Grove United Methodist Church, next to the cemetery, at 13384 Ashland Road, Ashland, Va.
