Karole Kelstrom Hoffer, 67, passed away January 23, 2012, in Boulder City, Clark County, Nevada after a long illness. She was born November 16, 1944, in Ludlow, Hampden County, Massachusetts.
Karole was a longtime resident of Boulder City. She graduated from Boulder City High School in 1964, earned a master's degree in nursing and worked as a school nurse for the Clark County School District until 2007. She and her husband were founders and longtime owners of the Pit Stop in Boulder City.
She was a champion for the underprivileged and was instrumental in obtaining free dental care and free school meals for needy children. She was a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She loved life and learning. She especially loved children. She will greatly be missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Hoffer (1996); father, Larry Kelstrom (2004); sisters, Susan Newton (2005) and Barbara Kelstom (1952).
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Boulder City, 591 Adams Boulevard. A viewing was held Wednesday, January 25, at Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Boulder City, Nevada.
MN SDA History Editor's Note: Karole was the grand-daughter of Nels Gustov Kelstrom who was born in Minnesota. Another grandchild of Nels, Merland Duane (Kelly) Jr. Kelstrom, graduated from Maplewood Academy in 1956 and married Evon Nadine Chaffee and they made their home in Minnesota where they raised their children.
