Wedding – On Sunday afternoon, July 7, Miss Kathy Joy Parker and Dr. Roy B. Parke were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Bemidji, MN. In keeping with a garden theme, the bridesmaids wore green dotted swiss dresses and carried bouquets of daisies. The bride wore a white organza dress with daisy trim and carried a bouquet of white daisies and yellow roses. Bridesmaids included Holly Parker, sister of the bride, Emily Merickel, friend of the bride, and maid of honor Becky White, foster sister of the bride. Groomsmen included David Parker, brother of the bride, Jerry Johnson, cousin of the groom, and best man Eldon Johnson, cousin of the groom. The flower girl was Margie White, foster sister of the bride, and the Bible boy was James Parker, brother of the bride.
The wedding ceremony was officiated by Elder E. Wesley Brown and lovely wedding music was presented by Vickie Cora, friend of the bride, at the organ and Cheryl Larson-Syverson, friend of the bride, providing vocals. After the ceremony, guests gathered in the church fellowship hall for a reception hosted by Marilyn Johnson, cousin of the groom, and Peggy Johnson, wife of Eldon.
Kathy is a 1973 Maplewood Academy graduate and the daughter of Vernon and Myrna (Andersen) Parker of Blackduck, MN. Roy is a graduate of Sauk Centre High School, Union College, and Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery and he is the son of William V. Parke, Jr. of Trenton, NJ, and Ruby (Guishard) Lushbough of North Liberty, IN. Roy and Kathy are both members of the Northome, MN Seventh-day Adventist Church and they will be making their home in Northome where Roy practices in the Northome Clinic with Dr. Gordon W. Franklin.
